Hornington Manor is a stunning Grade II listed exclusive-use wedding venue in Bolton Percy near York. Set within the grounds of a working farm amongst the rolling hills of the North Yorkshire countryside it offers the perfect spot for a rustic barn wedding. It plays home to a flock of Texel, Suffolk, Zwartble and Wensleydale sheep, which the farmers rear in exchange for their woolly fleeces. I loved it all!
Ellie & Tim’s wedding in September 2022 made full use of all that Hornington Manor had to offer: the courtyard at the front provided a wonderful space for their sun-filed outdoor ceremony, drinks and canapés happened out the back on the lawn and the reception took place in the amazing converted barn.
I met Ellie to document the morning preparations amongst the quietude of her family home at nearby Thorp Arch where she and her bridesmaids were having their hair and make up attended to with bubbly and breakfast. Once ready she arrived in style with dad in a stunning mark 2 Jaguar where Tim was nervously awaiting his bride-to-be. The sun shone and the everyone enjoyed the warm weather while our happy couple said their I-Do’s before heading round the back of the house for a confetti throw accompanied by canapés and fizz. We took the group photos at this stage a few sneaky portraits with the surrounding fields as a beautiful backdrop before heading into the barn for speeches and a delicious three course meal courtesy of The Hog and Apple caterers, complete with stick-on wine sommelier moustaches.
After food I stole the couple outside for some golden hour portraits along the entrance road to Hornington Manor as the sun was beginning to set. We made good use of the beautiful light as the evening was drawing close. Needless to say we partied into the night with a live band and dancing aplenty, not to mention all the amazing action shots that a packed dance floor offers!
